Geoff of Washington says, "I bought my first Royal, a '96, in June of 97. In June of 2000, after 42,000 miles, I wrecked it by hitting a MOOSE. Moose and I walked (limped) away, but the Royal didn't. Replaced it with a '99 and was riding within three weeks. The new one now has 42,500 miles on it and is going strong. Only mods are semi-bigfoot, Baron's pipes, rejetted carbs, and V-Max gears. I've set the bike up to tour, and my wife Phyllis and I spend all the time riding that we can. Royal license is OURSTR. Trailer license is OURSTUF with a bracket that says MOSTLY HERS."
