A BIT OF BACKGROUND ... Combi-Camp is a Danish company specializing in lightweight trailer tents. This unit was built in 1987 and has a title weight of less than 500 pounds WITH the second bedroom. Some other features: - Torsion rod suspension - Wide highway tires with "bearing buddy" grease systems. Electric brakes were optional. - All aluminum and marine grade plywood construction. Frame was built by MercedesBenz, and this unit was assembled in Great Britain. - All legal lighting, including side lights and reflectors on all four corners. - Complete integrated leveling and support system. - Sticker price was $4200US. Expensive, but I imagine a lot of that was import charges. Very popular units in Europe, but few were imported to the United States. Considering it's age, the unit is immaculate and the waxed canvas is still strong and watertight, with no significant fading and absolutely no mildew or odor. It's been stored inside up till now, but not an option here, so I got an extra cover for winter protection that should do the trick and keep it "factory fresh". It's breathable and waterproof, and I store it nose down for good drainage.
I stumbled across this while trolling Craig's List and other online seller sites for a trailer after having given up on the popups as being a viable option for my little toy truck. Pure dumb luck that this was only a couple hours after I'd found it, and in fact, there'd already been a couple calls before mine. First come, first served, so I boogied right out there with cash in hand, and bought it just as someone else was pulling in. Neener neener!! It's mine, Mine, MINE!! ~ ~ ~ Combi-Camp is still in business and going strong with a complete lineup of practical and unusual trailers. For more information: https://www.combi-camp.com/en
PS ... I did make one more mod to the trailer ... just couldn't stop myself, being a loyal Whovian ...
(I also have the It's Smaller On The Outside sticker displayed prominently inside.) |
